YOKO GERI Keage
Kicking is done from the side of the body with the power of
shock, therefore, in order to make yoko geri Keage effective, it is important
to use the hip. The idea is fairly straightforward, however, because many
people have long been used to perform a kick without using the hips, they often
find change difficult.
The principle of using the hips in yoko geri Keage very
similar to the hip movement in Mawashi geri. In Mawashi geri if the kick with
his right foot, when KIME, the right side will disentak hips forward and then
back again to the normal position, yoko geri Keage is exactly the same.
If
there is kicking with Yoko geri Keage sideways with right foot, left foot
should always support remain relaxed and slightly bent, (as the supporting leg
helps us to rotate and push the hips) with feet facing forward, so that the
knees-facing side (for targets), and should allow the right side of the hip to
rotate backwards, with a feeling similar to zenkutsu Dachi position. Such as a
broken leg is released into action quickly, keeping the hips behind the right
side until the end of the kick and then release the hips forward shock action
and then back again in zenkutsu Dachi and hip in Mawashi geri surprise. As in
all kick Yoko geri hip movement in Keage should be left until the end of the
technique to get maximum distance and power. The key to maximizing the power of
the kick is to synchronize the movement of the hips by pressing the supporting
leg.
